The school was built in 1871 and extended in 1885. The building is constructed in a plain style from red brick on a white gault brick plinth and white gault brick quoins and a slate roof. The school was scheduled for closure in 1955/6 and has since been used as a Kingdom Hall for Jehovah's Witnesses.
