Summary

Metal-detecting in 2012 and 2017 recovered a Late Prehistoric flint flake; a dispersed hoard of Roman copper alloy coins, post-medieval coins, and a copper alloy bar fragment and undated, Roman, medieval and post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooch, a fragment of medieval rotary key, a post-medieval crotal bell and lead musket ball and an undatable sub-circular piece of lead.

The Roman coin hoard was reported as potential Treasure along with a number of additional coins recovered in August 2012 - see below.

4 August 2012. Non-archaeological excavation.
With a JCB the landowner excavated an area about 16m south-west of where the coin hoard was found [4] in March 2012. During this excavation 7 additional Roman coins, a copper alloy bar fragment, a Late Prehistoric flint flake, a post-medieval crotal bell and lead musket ball, and an undatable piece of lead were recovered.

The Roman coin hoard recovered between March and August 2012 was reported as potential Treasure (2012 T217), declared Treasure at inquest and subsequently acquired by Norwich Castle Museum, along with the copper alloy bar fragment found in August 2012 (NWHCM : 2014.200).
