Full Description
A 1921 Ministry of Transport style Place Name Sign for East Raynham. This sign is lozenge-shaped and is divided into three sections. The top, triangular section, is usually used to indicate which road the sign is positioned on, although it doesn't in this case. The middle, rectangular section contains "E. RAYNHAM/PLEASE DRIVE/SLOWLY", while the lower, triangular section is used to display which authority is responsible for the upkeep of the sign and states "Norfolk C. C.", meaning Norfolk County Council.
All of the surviving 27 original signs were made by the Royal Label Factory in Stratford Upon Avon, and where the original post still remains, the name is cast on it.
(S1) gives the location of this sign as being at OS grid reference TF 892 260, however, the sign is not currently visible from the road.
See (S1) for further information on this and other similar signs in Norfolk.
