Summary

Cropmarks of enclosures,a trackway and other linears are visible on aerial photographs from 1996. Numerous finds of Roman pottery and objects on this field (NHER 17575) and possible Roman wall plaster to the south (NHER 17576) may indicate that these represent a small Roman settlement. Cropmarks in the adjacent field (NHER 36373) may represent an extension of this site.

Map

April 2012.
Cropmarks of enclosures,a trackway and other linears are visible on aerial photographs from 1996 (S1). Numerous finds of Roman pottery and objects on this field (NHER 17575) and possible Roman wall plaster to the south (NHER 17576) may indicate that these represent a small Roman settlement. Cropmarks in the adjacent field (NHER 36373) may represent an extension of this site, although these seem to be on a slightly different alignment and may not be related.

Darker linears present at right angles to the east and south may be later field boundaries, although they are not present on historic maps.
