Full Description
March 2012. Norfolk Rural Schools Survey.
The National School was built in 1863 with enlargement in 1895/6. The former teacher's house is attached to the south-west of the school and was built in 1863. The buildings are constructed in a plain functional style from roughly coursed carstone and a pantile roof. The school closed in 1985 and has since been used as a village hall.

July 2017. Correspondence.
A descendant of an early 20th century North Runcton school master has noted that the school master lived at Gingerbread Cottage, on the opposite side of the green to the school, between 1903 and 1916 (S2). Gingerbread cottage does not appear on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map (S3) for North Ructon but does appear on the 1905 Ordnance Survey map (S4).
