Map

May 2012. Norfolk NMP.
Earthworks of a possible medieval enclosure and potential trackway or droveway are visible on aerial photographs (S1) to the west of St Peter’s Hill, Morley. The site is centred on TM 0630 9907, and the potential enclosure measures approximately 48m x62m. It is notable that a possible moat has been recorded to the east (NHER 54734).
The earthwork ditch to the west appears to be a former edge to the path depicted on the ordnance survey 2nd edition map, which may indicate a former trackeway or droveway.
Various fieldwalking and metal-detecting events have taken place in the vicinity (NHER 30532-30545) and a possible medieval settlement has been identified through fieldwalking within the field (NHER 30539). It has not been possible to further examine the existing records for this area, however, as this is without the scope of the current NMP project.
E. Bales (NMP), 9th May 2012.
