Full Description
May 2012. Norfolk NMP.
An area of possible medieval to post medieval ridge and furrow and field boundaries or possible drainage features is visible as cropmarks and soilmarks on aerial photographs (S1-S3) on land to the north and south of the possible Roman road NHER 33952. The possible ridge and furrow is centred on TM 0645 9645, but it is possible that this is in fact agricultural under-drainage of recent origin. The same could be said for a series of possible banks visible to the east centred on TM 0664 9646.
There are also ditches in the area running parallel, or perpendicular to, the possible Roman road 33952, and these may relate to field boundaries of Roman or medieval origin. It is also possible that these features could relate to land drainage also.
E. Bales (NMP), 15th May 2012.
