Summary

Metal-detecting in 2012 recovered Roman and post-medieval coins as well as Roman, Early Saxon, Late Saxon, Late Saxon/medieval, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman plate brooch, a furniture fitting and an incomplete possible tile comb; a possible Early Saxon rectangular belt mount; a Late Saxon Trefoil brooch; a Late Saxon/medieval stirrup terminal; a medieval belt mount, strap-end and buckles including a silver example; a medieval/post-medieval whittle-tang knife; a post-medieval copper alloy button and a late post-medieval gold finger-ring containing a blue gemstone cabochon.

The medieval silver buckle and the post-medieval gold finger ring were submitted as potential Treasure (Treasure cases 2012 T472 and 2012 T471 respectively), declared Treasure at inquest on 15 April 2013 and subsequently acquired by Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2013.298).
