NHER 57347 (Cropmark and Earthwork record) - Linear earthworks on Old Buckenham Green

A series of linear earthworks are visible crossing the Green, Old Buckenham, on aerial photographs of the area (S1-S8). Upon examination, though, it would appear that most of these are recent footpaths. However, on the clearest of these photographs (S1), at least two linear banks are visible underlying the recent paths which may relate to archaeological features, probably medieval to post medieval trackways or land division.
The first and most convincing of these is visible crossing the green from west to east, centred on TM 0645 9132. It consists of a bank approximately 2m in width, with a possible ditch either side.
A second, curving bank is visible to the north, centred on TM 0641 9137, although this is less certain as archaeology. There is also an area of amorphous ditch earthworks which could possibly represent ditches close to the road at TM 0654 9146, but these have not been mapped as they were not entirely convincing as archaeology, and were only visible on one set of photographs.
