Summary

Two trenches recorded during a rapid dientification survey either side of a woodland ride. The southern trench is L-shaped whilst the northern trench is parallel with the ride. Interpreted as relatively recent, probably a slit trench within a more extensive area of military earthworks or a minor attempt at drainage.

Site 1:
Two trenches recorded during a rapid identification survey either side of a woodland ride at TG17734140, 2m wide and 1 m deep. The southern trench is L-shaped, the longer length 8m, the shorter length 3 m, whilst the northern trench is parallel with the ride at a distance of 3m and is 8m long. Interpreted as relatively recent, probably a World War Two slit trench within a more extensive area of military earthworks (see NHER 38325 to the north east) or a minor attempt at drainage.
