Summary

Earthworks of three parallel ditches alternating with three parallel banks are visible on aerial photographs to the southeast of Snetterton airfield (NHER 9068). It is possible that these features represent a former trackway or road, and that they may relate to a possible Roman road, since at least one fragment of possible Roman road has been recorded in the vicinity, approximately 120m to the north (NHER 6035).

Map

July 2012. Norfolk NMP.
Earthworks of three parallel ditches alternating with three parallel banks are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S3) to the southeast of Snetterton airfield (NHER 9068). It is possible that these features represent a former trackway or road, and that they may relate to a possible Roman road, since at least one fragment of possible Roman road has been recorded in the vicinity, approximately 120m to the north (NHER 6035).
The site is centred on TM 0132 8911, and the overall width of the three banks and three ditches, aligned roughly east-west, measures approximately 23m. They are visible cut through by the railway, and by the World War two features relating to Snetterton airfield.
A second possible fragment of road or trackway is visible to the south (NHER 57376).
