Full Description
July 2012. Norfolk NMP.
Earthworks of a parallel ditch and bank are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2) to the southeast of Snetterton airfield (NHER 9068). It is possible that these features represent a former trackway or road, and that they may relate to a possible Roman road, since at least one fragment of possible Roman road has been recorded in the vicinity, approximately 120m to the north (NHER 6035), along with another section of earthworks that may relate to an east-west road, 40m to the north (NHER 57375).
The site is centred on TM 0129 8900, and the overall width of the bank and ditch, aligned roughly north-south, measures approximately 8m. They are visible cut through by World War two features relating to Snetterton airfield.
E. Bales (NMP),02 July 2012.
