Summary

Areas of World War Two accommodation huts and military buildings associated with Deopham Green airfield (NHER 4260) are visible on aerial photographs at a number of dispersed locations to the east of the airfield. The majority of the sites consist largely of nissens and nissen-type huts, with associated structures and underground air raid shelter. A limited number of structures still survive.

Areas of World War Two accommodation huts and military buildings associated with Deopham Green airfield (NHER 4260) are visible on aerial photographs at a number of dispersed locations to the east of the airfield (S1-S3). The site is centred on TM 0173 9844. The majority of the sites consist largely of nissens and nissen-type huts, with associated structures and underground air raid shelter, such as those at TM 0123 9829. Whilst other sites contain larger structures, which are likely to have fulfilled a communal function, such as dining halls etc, for example at TM 0191 9849. The sewerage works is at TM 0236 9781. Although the majority of the structures have been removed at much of these dispersed sites, some structures still survive, such as at TM 0187 9850, TM 0157 9883 and TM 0187 9881 (S4).
