Full Description
July 2012. Norfolk NMP.
The former earthworks of medieval to post medieval field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs to the northwest of Six Acre Plantation, Attleborough (S1-S3). The site is centred on TM 0498 9751. Although many of these boundaries are not depicted on the available historic maps, such as the 1838 Attenborough Tithe map (S4), they appear to form part of the same broad pattern of enclosure and were therefore not mapped. Although it must be noted that medieval finds have been recovered from this location (NHER 55462), however the evidence on the aerial photographs indicates agricultural and not settlement activity.
S. Horlock (NMP), 24 July 2012.
