Summary

A scatter of Late Neolithic or Bronze Age flint, possibly indicating settlement activity, was recovered during the archaeological watching brief along the Transco Brisley to Bushy Common pipeline, and is recorded as Site No. 3. It is located approximately 150m to the north-east of Mangreen Farm, Stanfield, in a field that had been unsuitable for fieldwalking during the pre-construction survey. A concentration of Iron Age and Roman pottery was also recovered from this area.

Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of Brisley to Bushy Common Pipeline (Site 3/Plot 5). A scatter of Late Neolithic or Bronze Age flint, possibly indicating settlement activity, was recovered during the archaeological watching brief undertaken at this site. It is located approximately 150m to the north-east of Mangreen Farm, Stanfield, in a field that had been unsuitable for fieldwalking during the pre-construction survey.
A total of 23 tools, one core and seventeen flakes dating to the late Neolithic or Bronze Age period were collected over an area of 1500sqm. These included a fragment of late Neolithic polished greenstone axe. Two Mesolithic/Early Neolithic blades and a retouched Mesolithic blade were also recovered.
No archaeological features were detected.
