Summary

Metal-detecting at this location between 2012 and 2025 recovered Middle Saxon, Late Saxon and medieval pottery sherds; Roman and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton; a post-medieval token and a range of other, undated and Middle Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include undated copper alloy casting waste; a Middle Bronze Age palstave or flanged axehead fragment; an Early Saxon pendant and unidentified copper alloy object; a Middle/Late Saxon hooked tag and gilded silver pin; a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount and stirrup terminal; a Late Saxon to post-medieval lead spindle whorl; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval whittle-tang knife shoulder bolster; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy rings, part of a candlestick base, fragments from a strainer and a skimmer, chafing dish fragments and numerous copper alloy vessel fragments and a post-medieval purse bar terminal, sword belt clasps and a knife end stop.

7 post-medieval coins, 1 jetton, buttons, buckles, sword belt clasps, numerous mounts, a hooked mount, terminal from a purse bar and knife end stop.

The Middle Saxon silver pin was declared Treasure at inquest (Ref: 2012 T695) and subsequently acquired by the British Museum (2013,8041.1).
