Map

August 2012. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of a possible oval barrow or enclosure are visible on aerial photographs (S1-S2) to the south of the River Thet at Middle Harling. It has been recorded as it is located in close proximity to a clearer ring ditch which contains the possible remnant of a mound (NHER 6027). Possible field boundaries are also visible within this field (NHER 57419).
The site is centred on TL 9807 8589. It consists of a faint ditch, which cannot be seen in its entirety, which appears to measure approximately 28m by 21m. Within this ditch there is a possibility that a former slight mound existed, as it appears similar in appearance to that recorded as NHER 6027. The possible mound measures approximately 16m by 13m, with a possible berm between the ditch and mound which varies in width from 2.6m to 7.7m. It is possible that this feature represents a former Bronze Age oval barrow, but has been recorded with a hint of caution, as it is not as convincing as that to the south (NHER 6027).
