September 2012.
A probable emplacement, for a gun or similar, is visible as a concrete structure on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (S1)-(S2), centred at TL 8722 9359. The feature lies within STANTA, and presumably related to training activity at the site during or immediately after World War Two. Whether any traces of the emplacement still survive at the site is not known.
The site was mapped as part of an aerial photographic assessment and mapping project (S3), undertaken to provide more accurate locational data for the barrow cemetery (NHER 58031) approximately 140m to its southwest. As explained in the report, other, more generalised evidence of 20th century military activity across the area has not been recorded, as to do so would require a more extensive survey.
