June-August 2011. Watching brief
Early wall of possible medieval date exposed during excavation of service trench. This feature was parallel to nearby Surrey Street, 1.3m wide and composed of flint and pale cream chalky mortar. The remains of a post-medieval red-brick wall aligned perpendicular to Surrey Street were also identified. Both walls were sealed by layers of modern hardcore.
