NHER 58193 (Monument record) - Probable medieval to post medieval ditch

Evaluation of proposed development site.
A single east-west oriented ditch likely of medieval to post-medieval date was recorded. Four sherds of pottery, likely from a mid-15th to late 16th century bowl, were recovered from the ditch fill along with a fragment of post-medieval brick and tile, an iron hinge fitting, and fragments of marine shell and animal bone. The nature of the finds indicates the presence of domestic habitation in the vicinity in the 15th and 16th century. The ditch may form part of the field boundaries identified as cropmarks in NHER 27065 and possible field boundaries in NHER 27052.
