Summary

The soilmarks of a broad ditch or hollow way of medieval to post medieval date, is visible on aerial photographs to the west of the ‘New Road’ Ashwellthorpe. Faden’s map of 1797 suggests that this ditch marked either the boundary of the Fundenall Common or a hollow way running alongside it.

The soilmarks of a broad ditch or hollow way of medieval to post medieval date, is visible on aerial photographs to the west of the ‘New Road’ Ashwellthorpe (S1-S2). The site is centred on TM 1322 9652. Faden’s map of 1797 suggests that this ditch marked either the boundary of the Fundenhall Common or a hollow way running alongside it.
