Summary

A former road surface recorded during monitoring of groundworks for a new sewer link. This road surface has been tentatively dated to the post medieval period due to the presence of 18th to 19th century roof tile fragments, but it is possible that the tile was incorporated from later groundworks or repairs and the road could have been constructed earlier.

A former road surface was recorded during monitoring of groundworks for installation of a new sewer link. This road surface has been tentatively dated to the post medieval period due to the presence of 18th to 19th century roof tile fragments, but it is possible that the tile was incorporated from later groundworks or repairs. It remains possible that this road surface is earlier in date and could form part of the Pye Roman road (NHER 7947).
