Summary

Cropmarks of undated ditches are visible on aerial photographs to the west of Shropham Fen. It is very difficult to be certain that these feature are archaeological in origin, since they are only visible on one set of photographs, and have therefore been recorded with a hint of caution, as there are a great deal of geological cropmarks in the area also.

Map

November 2012. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1) to the west of Shropham Fen.
The site is centred on TL 9962 9314 and consists of a number of ephemeral ditches, oriented roughly north-south. There are also several possible pit features, in the area, although these were too difficult to distinguish from background geology, and have not been mapped. An east-west feature was identified as a former limit of vegetation, visible on earlier photographs (S2), and has therefore not been mapped.
It is very difficult to be certain that these feature are archaeological in origin, since they are only visible on one set of photographs, and have therefore been recorded with a hint of caution, as there are a great deal of geological cropmarks in the area also.
E. Ford (NMP), 07 November 2012.
