Full Description
January 2013. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of uncertain origin and significance are visible on aerial photographs (S1) at TM 0169 9597. The cropmarks consist of two small rectangular dark areas, one of which appears to be surrounded by a lighter halo. Interpretation of the cropmarks relating to a Roman complex (NHER 9083) on the same aerial photographs indicated that cropmark reversal had occurred and this may indicate that these cropmarks relate to rectangular subsurface compacted ground or masonry. The fact that these features also follow the same alignment as the Roman site to the west, could also indicate that they are of archaeological significance. However it is also entirely feasible that these small darker rectangular areas relate to recent agricultural activity at the site.
S. Horlock (NMP), 24 January 2013.
