NHER 58614 (Monument record) - Site of former World War Two pillbox

The site of a former World War Two pillbox is visible on aerial photographs alongside the Queen’s Road on the approach into Attleborough (S1-S2). This is located alongside an area of rough ground, centred on TM 0456 9570, which could feasibly contain some military training activity – a possible angular practice trench is perhaps visible. Although it is clear that much of the disturbance at the site relates to small-scale extraction. The pillbox itself is located at TM 0452 9567 and which is probably hexagonal in shape (although it may feasibly be 5-sided, as it is hard to be certain from the aerial photographs).
The pillbox is removed post-war and the site has subsequently been developed into housing and allotments and it is unlikely that remains relating to possible military activity at the site survive.
