Summary

Fieldwalking by Caistor Roman Project in 2012 recovered Roman, Middle Saxon and medieval to post-medieval pottery sherds; medieval and medieval/post-medieval roof tile fragments; medieval/post-medieval brick fragments; a post-medieval pipe clay wig curler and clay tobacco pipe stem and bowl fragments; post-medieval/modern glass sherds and undatable ceramic building material, clinker, animal bone fragments, shell and burnt flint.

Full Description

19 January, 2 and 23 February and 1 March 2012. Systematic fieldwalking. Caistor Research Project, Field CRP 22.5.
Undatable ceramic building material, clinker, metal objects, animal bone fragments, shell and burnt flint.
3 Roman pottery sherds.
1 Middle Saxon pottery sherd.
27 medieval pottery sherds and 3 roof tile fragments.
2 medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds, 31 roof tile fragments and 5 brick fragments.
215 post-medieval pottery sherds, 1 pipe clay wig curler, 221 clay tobacco pipe stem fragments and 4 clay tobacco pipe bowl fragments.
Post-medieval/modern glass sherds.
