Summary

Fieldwalking by Caistor Roman Project in 2012 recovered Roman, Late Saxon and medieval to post-medieval pottery sherds; Roman tile fragments; medieval/post-medieval brick and roof tile fragments; post-medieval clay tobacco pipe fragments; undatable and post-medieval/modern ceramic building material and glass sherds and undatable animal bone fragments, shell fragments, slag and burnt flint.

Full Description

13 March 2012. Systematic fieldwalking. Caistor Roman Project, Field CRP 26.16.
Undatable ceramic building material, animal bone fragments, slag, burnt flint and shell.
5 Roman pottery sherds and 2 tile fragments, including tegula.
2 Late Saxon pottery sherds.
19 medieval pottery sherds.
4 medieval/post-medieval pottery sherds, 5 brick fragments and 1 roof tile fragment.
167 post-medieval pottery sherds, 50 clay tobacco pipe stem fragments and 2 clay tobacco pipe bowl fragments.
Post-medieval to modern ceramic building material and vessel glass.
