Summary

Neolithic worked flints and post-medieval gun flint waste recovered during fieldwalking that took place after this area was cleared of trees in 1988. A single sherd of Roman Samian pottery was also recovered.

Fieldwalking by J. Wymer in area cleared and planted by Forestry Commission. Various Neolithic worked flints including:
1 Discoidal core
1 Long flake
1 Burnt fragment of leaf arrowhead
1 Arrowhead roughout
1 Crude axe
Scrapers
Retouched flakes
1 Patinated core
A single sherd of Roman Samian pottery was also recovered, along with 19th/20th-century Brandon-type gunflint waste. See plot in file. These finds are held by the NCM (NWHCM : 1998.188.3 : A).
