Summary

Metal-detecting between 2013 and 2023 recovered a number of prehistoric worked flints, including a Late Upper Palaeolithic long blade, a Neolithic part-polished axehead, an Early Neolithic disc scraper and a Neolithic/Bronze Age scraper; Roman pottery sherds; a medieval stone roof tile fragments; medieval/post-medieval whetstones; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons and a range of other, Bronze Age, Roman and Middle Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include an Early Bronze Age flat axehead; a Late Bronze Age razor fragment; a Late Iron Age/Roman brooch; Roman brooches; Middle Saxon pins; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval thimble, knife end cap and lead standing weight; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments and lead weight and a post-medieval unidentified copper alloy object, lead steelyard weight and lead alloy figurine.
