Summary

A variety of worked flints were found at this site during fieldwalking in 1999 and 2004. These included piece of Mesolithic/Early Neolithic, Neolithic and Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age date. The Neolithic pieces including a notable number of scrapers and it is possible that these were being made at this site.

Early 1999. Fieldwalking.
Various worked flints found by [1] in area centred TF 7896 2030:
155 undatable flakes, a high proportion of which are fresh and sharp, suggesting that may be from relatively recent knapping, potentially Iron Age or even medieval or later.
37 undatable prehistoric flints including 2 blades, 6 rounded end scrapers, 1 end and side scraper, 2 side scrapers (one on a cortical shatter fragment), 1 hollow scraper, 3 borers, 12 miscellaneous retouched flakes, 7 edge-damaged/utilised flakes, 1 hammerstone, 1 hammerstone flake.
14 ?Mesolithic/Early Neolithic blades.
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age plano convex knife.
1 ?Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age retouched flake.

2 undatable copper alloy sheet fragments also found.

2 Neolithic worked flints including 1 polished axe fragment and 1 chisel arrowhead.
23 ?Neolithic flints, including 20 rounded end scrapers, 1 retouched flake, 1 single platform core and 1 globular core.
1 Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age plano convex knife.
Possible manufacturing site for scrapers?
