August 2010. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey recorded a set of weak positive linear and curvilinear responses just east of the centre of the surveyed area. These have been interpreted as a possible enclosure with a curvilinear internal feature and associated linear features, but this interpretation is tentative due to the weak nature of the responses. These features were not visible as cropmarks on the aerial photography examined for this area by the NMP (see NHER 6096). The survey also identified a faint series of linear anomalies in the northwest of the survey area that may represent remnants of ridge and furrow cultivation. All other responses were likely caused by metallic debris in the topsoil and other modern disturbance to the survey area.
See report (S1) for further details. The results of this work are also summarised in (S2).
See NHER 60030 for details of material recovered during fieldwalking and metal-detecting survey.
