Map

Early 20th century. Stray Find.
Found by M. C. Burkitt above Weybourne Railway Station:
1 prehistoric flint core.
This find is listed in R. Jacobi's records (S1) as a Class 2a core, its inclusion suggesting a probable Mesolithic date. The finder is presumably the M. C. Burkitt who published a number of articles and books on the prehistoric archaeology of the region during the 1920s and 1930s. This core was almost certainly identified when Jacobi examined the Burkitt Collection as part of research undertaken for (S2) (which lists a number of flints from Kelling in this collection but not this object). The present location of the Burkitt Collection is unknown.

The mapped extent of this record reflects the six figure grid reference listed in Jacobi's records (TG 112 417).
