Summary

An L-shaped boundary bank and ditches, which define the edge of a woodland shown on a late 19th century map, were identified as earthworks during a field visit in 2014. The boundary is also visible, much more extensively, on imagery from a lidar survey flown in 2015.

A L-shaped bank and ditch. The bank is 3m wide and 0.3m tall. The ditch is 3m and 0.3m deep.
It is probably a boundary feature for the woodland shown on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S1).

December 2017. 'Brecks from Above' and Breckland National Mapping Programme.
The post medieval woodland boundary described above is visible at this location and extending much further to the north and northeast on imagery from a recent lidar survey (S2). As described, the boundary is depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1st edition 6 inch map (S1), and as a consequence it has not been mapped by the project.
