Prehistoric objects known to have been recovered in the vicinity of Saham Waite (a small hamlet in the northernmost part of Saham Toney parish), but with no additional information regarding provenance.

1948. Stray Find.
1 prehistoric perforated quartzite macehead. This object is amongst a number of objects from Saham Toney that were donated to the Norwich Castle Museum by [1] in 1963 (NWHCM : 1963.120.21). It is recorded as having been found at Saham Waite in 1948 and is listed as an undated prehistoric. It is possible that this is a pebble mace (which are usually quartzite and unmodified apart from their central perforation), which are not closely datable, having been found in both Mesolithic and later prehistoric contexts. It should however be noted that this object is not amongst the pebble maces listed in (S1).

Pre 1963. Stray Find.
The finds donated to the Norwich Castle by [1] include a flint core tool from Saham Waite that was subsequently identified by R. Jacobi as a Mesolithic tranchet axehead (S2). Although Jacobi did not record its exact accession number, this is almost certainly the implement listed in the museum's records as an "undated prehistoric flint chisel" (NWHCM : 1963.120.22; the only other object in this collection recorded as being from Saham Waite).
