Full Description
June and October 2013. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of extension to house.
A single ditch was recorded but this did not appear to be an extension of any of the linear features recorded as cropmarks to the south (NHER 16164). A group of postholes associated with a shallow feature, within which two of the postholes were set, was tentatively interpreted as part of a medieval or post-medieval timber structure. Finds from the site included medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds, a single sherd of Late Bronze Age or Early Iron Age pottery and a small assemblage of Late Bronze Age worked flint.
See report (S1) for further information.
A. Cattermole (HES), 9 October 2014.
