Summary

In 2014 a medieval harness mount was recovered during building work. In 2016 a small number of post-medieval/modern pottery sherds were found nearby during the excavation of shallow footing trenches. No archaeologically significant features or deposits were encountered.

Recovered from near the garden ground surface during preparations for building work:
Medieval harness mount.

March 2016. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of extension to existing residential dwelling.
The footing trenches excavated were all relatively shallow, with natural geological deposits not exposed at any point. A subsoil was recorded in the northernmost trench but elsewhere only the overlying made ground deposits were exposed.
No archaeologically significant features were identified and finds were limited to a small number of post-medieval/modern pottery sherds.
