Summary

Between 1984 and 2022 numberous prehistoric worked flints were recovered along the beach at Happisburgh, including many for which an exact provenance was not recorded. These poorly-located finds include Lower Palaeolithic handaxes, cores and flakes; Lower/Middle Palaeolithic handaxes and flakes and Upper Palaeolithic long blades.

Lower/Middle Palaeolithic handaxe, bifacially knapped and of slightly plano-convex cross-section. It appears that this was a conventional (teardrop) shaped handaxe that has been reshaped and repurposed.
