Summary

Metal-detecting between 2014 and 2016 recovered Roman pottery sherds; a Roman coin and a range of other, Bronze Age to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Late Bronze Age scabbard chape; an undiagnostic Bronze Age axehead fragment; Late Iron Age/Roman brooches; Roman brooches, finger rings, furniture fittings, a bracelt fragment and lead steelyard weight; Early Saxon brooches and a mount; Middle/Late Saxon tweezers and a pin; a Late Saxon strap end and socketed hook from strap distributor; Late Saxon to post-medieval lead spindle whorls; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval thimbles, a casket key, pendent bell, copper alloy decorative rivet and lead seal matrix; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments and post-medieval harness mounts, book clasps, a rotary key, Jew's harp, sword-belt fitting, crotal bell, lead weights and lead cloth seal.
