February 2013. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of excavation of stanchion pits for a new agricultural store.
The investigations revealed a sequence of disturbance, perhaps relating to levelling of earthworks associated with the adjacent moated site. The subsoil contained Grimston ware pottery dating from the 13th to 14th centuries. In addition one deposit was recorded which may be the fill of a feature.
