Map

December 2011. Historic Building Recording.
Assessment made of barn at Lodge Farm, ahead of its proposed conversion.
The building consists of one rectangular-plan three-cell structure under a hipped, pantiled roof. A narrow corridor runs behind two of the cells. It has been constructed in two phases: the original was narrower and at some date it was extended to the east under the present hipped roof. The back (eastern) wall appears to be of two builds and it is possible that the lower part was originally the enclosing wall of a small yard. Cast iron arched windows typical of those produced in the Holkham foundry at Longlands survive in the north wall and on the south and east sides of the smithy. The machinery survives remarkably intact, and as such is unusual.
See Heritage Statement (S1) for further information.
