Map

February-March 2011. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of habitat restoration works on the River Nar.
This weir sits downstream of the present A1065 road bridge. A dyke (now dry) joins the north side of the river just upstream of the weir connecting to a pool to the north. The weir is made of a concrete bastion on each side of the river. These were flat-based and U-shaped with arms of uneven length. It is not known whether this weir was part of the original watermeadow design (NHER 44222), but its concrete construction suggests a more modern date.
See (S1) for further information.
An archive associated with this work has been deposited with Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2012.227).
