Summary

An excavation of the Old 'Maypole' site discovered the 14th century pilasters of an undercroft. This work also established that glazed roof tiles were reused in the floor of the undercroft. Four tokens were found in the infill of the undercroft including a lead Boy Bishop token from Bury St Edmunds.

14th century pilasters [2] of an undercroft uncovered and recorded. Base of one and part of capital recovered of another. Glazed roof tiles reused in floor of undercroft. Four tokens found in infill. One is a lead Boy Bishop token (Bury St Edmunds). Sherds from south side of site mainly, also more roof tiles reused as floor fill and a fragment of finial? or chimney?
