Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting at this location between 2011 and 2024 recovered a Neolithic polished axehead; a number of other prehistoric worked flints, including Neolithic/Bronze Age flakes and scrapers and an Early Bronze Age barbed-and-tanged arrowhead; a substantial assemblage of Iron Age, Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds and a range of undated and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include an undated copper alloy ingot or 'cake'; Roman brooches and a bracelet fragment; a potentially Early Saxon pendant made from a pierced Roman silver coin; a Late Saxon silver hooked tag; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; a medieval harness pendant, mount, stud, needle and end cap or hilt plate from whittle-tang knife; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragment and post-medieval harness mounts and a furniture handle back plate.

7 medieval strap ends, 6 buckles, 2 strap mounts, 2 bar mounts, an annular brooch, finger ring, pendent loop from belt, folding strap clasp, harness pendant, mount, stud, needle and end cap or hilt plate from whittle-tang knife.
Medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragment.
2 post-medieval buckles, 2 harness mounts a button, and furniture handle back plate.

The potentially Early Saxon silver coin pendant and Late Saxon silver hooked tag were both disclaimed as Treasure (Refs: 2024 T676 and 2024 T677 respectively) and returned to the finder.
