Summary

An existing meander loop on the north side of the River Wensum was re-excavated and two berms were created in the existing river channel as part of an on-going programme of restoration works being undertaken by the Environment Agency. Several archaeological monitoring visits were made during these works, but no archaeological finds or features were recorded.

Environment Agency works to restore the River Wensum were carried out under archaeologcial supervision.
Within this area, an existing meander loop on the north side of the River Wensum was re-excavated, having been allowed to accumulate silt deposits since the 1950's. Several berms were also created in the present river channel.
The site was visited on three occasions during the work, at which time a visual inspection was made and disturbed soils were metal-detected, but no archaeological finds or features were recorded.
