Summary

Groundworks were undertaken in this area in 2012 as part of a program of restoration for the River Wensum. Topsoil was removed from a small area and a new dyke was excavated under archaeological supervision but no finds or features of archaeological interest were recorded.

August-September 2012. Watching Brief.
Environment Agency works to restore the River Wensum were carried out under archaeological supervision.
At this location, an area of topsoil was stripped in order to receive a new raised bank and a new dyke was excavated. These groundworks were monitored over several site visits but no archaeological features were identified. Finds were limited to modern shotgun cartridges and fragments of farm machinery.
