Summary

Several trial trenches excavated on the route of the B1149 Corpusty/Saxthorpe Link Road revealed no archaeologically significant features or deposit. Subsequent topsoil stripping exposed a possible pit or gully and a possible post-hole, although excavation fo these features failed to recovered any dating evidence.

Full Description

April 2001. Trial Trench.
Evaluation on route of B1149 Corpusty/Saxthorpe Link Road (Trench 8).
No archaeologically significant features or deposits.

August-September 2001. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of topsoil stripping for B1149 Corpusty/Saxthorpe Link Road.
Thick layer of sand silt colluvium below topsoil removed to depth of 1m. Possible gully/pit and possible post-hole partially excavated but no dating evidence recovered.
