Summary

No archaeological finds or features were encountered during excavation of several trial trenches in 2013. Features encountered were limited to three modern land drains and a natural hollow.

February 2013. Trial Trenching.
Three trial trenches were excavated in advance of residential development.
Three modern field drains were recorded in the northernmost trench, all oriented north-south but each of different construction (one laid flints, one metal pipe, one ceramic). The eastern trench contained a modern borehole at its southern end and a natural hollow containing seven fragments of animal bone (probably all part of a single long bone) towards the centre. The western trench contained no archaeological finds or features.
