June 2012. Geophysical Survey.
All magnetic anomalies were attributed to geological variation and the presence of a modern service trench. No anomalies of possible archaeological origin were detected.

July 2012. Watching Brief.
Topsoil stripping in three areas for construction of a new school complex was monitored. Within the eastern area and the southern portion of the western areas, the groundworks did not penetrate to the natural subsoil, removing only the topsoil and a portion of the subsoil. Much of the northern portion of the access road area to the west had been previously disturbed by 20th century construction. The topsoil in this area was also very shallow, revealing the natural sand and gravels.
Finds recovered from the eastern area were limited to a few pieces of 19th to 20th century tin-glazed earthenware pottery, occasional clay tobacco pipe stem fragments, and modern shotgun cartridge ends and threaded copper alloy fittings. The southern portion of the western area yielded similar occasional finds, while the northern portion yielded only 20th century metal debris. These finds were not collected or retained.
See report (S2) for further information.
H. Hamilton (HES), 18 May 2015.
