Summary

Metal-detecting in 2015 and 2017 by Elden Tours recovered Late Mesolithic to Bronze Age flint flakes; a Neolithic/Bronze Age flint fabricator; a Late Iron Age (Roman issue) and Late Saxon coins and various other, Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include a Roman brooch; a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount; a Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorl; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval scabbard chape fragments, dagger pommel fragments, a rotary key, harness hook, casket key, seal matrix, weight, clapper bell and book fitting and a post-medieval steelyard weight, rotary key, harness mount sword belt fitting and lead cloth seal. These finds were recovered from four separate field and combined into one in error by the finders. Consequently, the exact findspots for these finds is unknown.

Roman brooch.
Late Saxon to post-medieval spindle whorl.
Medieval buckles, scabbard chape fragments (S1), a rotary key, seal matrix, weight, clapper bell, book fitting, strap-end and dagger pommel fragments.
Post-medieval harness mount and sword belt fitting.
This record represents finds recovered from four individual fields as the finds were amalgamated in error by the finders.

Late Mesolithic to Bronze Age flint flakes.
1 Roman coin.
1 Late Saxon coin and a stirrup-strap mount depicting a framed crude animal mask and with traces of possible niello inlay (S2).
Medieval buckles, a strap-end, casket key, silver annular brooch, and harness hook.
Post-medieval buckle, rotary key, steelyard weight and lead cloth seal.
Information from PAS import.
The medieval silver annular brooch was disclaimed as Treasure (Ref: 2017 T295)and returned to the finder.
