Map

The cropmarks of an oval enclosure measuring approximately 21m east-west and 18m north-south are visible on aerial photographs (S1). This feature has been interpreted as a possible late prehistoric mortuary enclosure.
A. Cattermole (HES), 7 July 2015.

September 2015. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
A trench placed across the site of this enclosure revealed two corresponding ditches with similar, steep-sided, ‘V’-shaped profiles. Unfortunately, dating evidence was limited to two prehistoric flint flakes and a single (potentially intrusive) fragment of post-medieval clay tobacco pipe stem.
Two other linear features identified within the interior of this enclosure were probably unrelated.
See report (S2) and NHER 65175 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 22 July 2021.
